In 2010, Academic Colleges Group (ACG) took over the management contract for Sunderland, changing the name to ACG Sunderland. The school occupies the building formerly used by the Waitakere City Council.

Student body

ACG Sunderland provides education to boys and girls from Years 1 to 13, and currently has plans for an onsite kindergarten. The student body is split into four houses, named after four founders of the school - Tong, Fleming, Findlay, and McDonald.

ACG Sunderland offers computer suites with class sets of computers for both the Primary School and College, and by 2012 there will be a wireless network throughout the school. The suites are equipped with SMART Boards. Many classrooms have built-in data projectors. Both the Primary School and College use science laboratories and a technology room.
